Later that same day, the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff stated that the military detected the launch of multiple missiles towards the Yellow Sea. ‘At approximately 13:00 local time (04:00 GMT/11:00 WIB) on May 26, South Korean military authorities detected the launch of multiple missiles, including short-range ballistic missiles, from Chongju in North Korea’s North Pyongan Province towards the Yellow Sea,’ according to the Joint Chiefs of Staff statement.
