South Korea helps promote Bali tourism

DENPASAR, Bali: A team from South Korea's Seoul Broadcasting Service (SBS) is currently filming a 20-episode television series on the resort island of Bali in an effort to promote cultural ties between the two nations.

"The project also aims at projecting the island's image as a safe tourist destination," the press and culture attache of the South Korean Embassy, Kim Sang Sool, said here on Thursday.

He said the series was expected to assist the recovery of Bali's tourism, which has suffered great losses due to the Oct. 12, 2002 bombings that killed at least 202 people, mostly foreigners.

Moreover, the filming is one way to show the film community's resistance to global terrorist threats, he added.

"Although the threats of terrorism are still hovering in the air, we are not afraid nor intimidated. We will continue filming this series," Sool stressed. --JP
