Consumption of sacrificial animals for Idul Adha 1447 AH in South Kalimantan Province has reached 17,000 heads. President Prabowo Subianto donated 15 Limousin and Simmental cattle to the local community.

‘We estimate this year’s sacrificial animal consumption will reach 17,000 heads, but we have prepared 23,000, mostly cattle. We also ensure the animals consumed by the public are healthy and safe,’ said Suparmi, Head of the South Kalimantan Plantation and Livestock Office (Disbunak).

Since May 2026, his office has deployed monitoring, supervision, and health inspection teams across 13 regencies and cities in South Kalimantan.

‘We collaborate with the Indonesian Veterinary Association (PDHI) South Kalimantan branch and support from the Ministry of Agriculture’s UPT, Directorate General of Livestock and Animal Health, to ensure the health condition of sacrificial animals,’ Suparmi added.

He acknowledged that some sacrificial animals are still imported from outside South Kalimantan, mainly from West Nusa Tenggara and Sulawesi.

On Wednesday (27 May), following the Idul Adha prayers, South Kalimantan Governor Muhidin and Vice Governor Hasnuryadi Sulaiman symbolically delivered sacrificial cattle donations to various regions, including the 15 cattle donated by the President of Indonesia to the province and 13 regencies/cities.

The presidential-donated cattle are jumbo-sized Limousin and Simmental Cross breeds, weighing between 800kg to over a tonne. These cattle were sourced from livestock farms across South Kalimantan.

The event was held at Sabilal Muhtadin Grand Mosque in Banjarmasin. Notably, Barito Kuala Regency received two cattle from the President, one of which was allocated for the Balinese community (Kampung Bali). Governor Muhidin expressed gratitude for President Prabowo’s sacrificial cattle donation to South Kalimantan’s residents. (E-2)
