The South Kalimantan Provincial Government has prepared 152 anti-corruption educators from the inspectorates of 13 regencies and cities across South Kalimantan to strengthen its commitment to building a clean and integrity-based government.

South Kalimantan Provincial Inspector Akhmad Fydayeen said the commitment to prepare anti-corruption educators began with technical guidance training (Bimtek) to enhance the role of anti-corruption educators in South Kalimantan Province.

“In order to fulfil the need for anti-corruption educators across all regional work units (SKPD) in South Kalimantan Province, we are carrying out this activity. This is also based on the direction of South Kalimantan Governor H. Muhidin and Deputy Governor Hasnuryadi Sulaiman,” he said in Banjarbaru, as reported on Wednesday.

The South Kalimantan Provincial Government is targeting the number of anti-corruption educators to continue growing to around 500 people.

This is a strategic step to expand education and prevention of corruption within government and society.

“Our target, as previously discussed with colleagues at the KPK, is 500. If this succeeds, the number of anti-corruption educators will continue to grow. In the future, we will add more,” he explained.

He emphasised that anti-corruption educators hold an important position as agents of change. They are expected to provide understanding, build awareness and encourage changes in anti-corruption behaviour in their respective environments.

He said corruption is one of the challenges in governance and development. Its impact not only causes material losses but can also damage public trust and hinder the realisation of a clean and integrity-based government.

Therefore, preventing corruption is not enough through supervision and enforcement of rules alone, but must also be accompanied by building a culture of integrity.

“Equally important is how we build a culture of integrity, instil anti-corruption values and shape behaviour that upholds honesty, responsibility, transparency and accountability,” he said.

The Bimtek participants received a range of materials, from strengthening the basics of anti-corruption and integrity, actualising integrity, and management of education to the practice of anti-corruption education.

He expressed hope that the knowledge and experience gained by participants can be applied and disseminated after the activity ends.

“An anti-corruption educator is not enough if they only understand what corruption is and how to prevent it. More than that, an educator must be able to convey anti-corruption messages in a good, engaging and easily understood way, and be able to have a real impact,” he continued.

Fydayeen also said that the South Kalimantan Provincial Inspectorate is currently building an anti-bribery management system. This step is part of efforts to strengthen clean and integrity-based governance.

The Chair of the South Kalimantan Anti-Corruption Educators Action Forum (APIK), Muhammad Mujiburrakhman, expressed appreciation to the South Kalimantan Provincial Government for facilitating the Bimtek.

According to him, the presence of 152 participants is a new force in strengthening the anti-corruption movement in South Kalimantan.

“We would like to thank the South Kalimantan Provincial Government, in this case initiated by the South Kalimantan Provincial Inspector and staff, for facilitating our activity,” he said.

He expressed hope that all participants can become anti-corruption educators and together strengthen the commitment to prevent corrupt practices in South Kalimantan.

“From this large number, God willing, all will become anti-corruption educators and become a force in South Kalimantan Province to not commit corruption,” he concluded.

Through the addition of anti-corruption educators, the South Kalimantan Provincial Government is optimistic that efforts to build integrity zones can become stronger and encourage the realisation of a transparent, accountable, clean and corruption-free government.
