The international trade balance in South Kalimantan recorded a surplus of approximately IDR 16.48 trillion up to May 2026, supported by exports that remained high and expansive. The surplus grew by 6.19% compared to the same period the previous year and increased by 14.45% compared to April 2026, reflecting expansive foreign trade throughout the beginning of the year. Export performance was recorded at around IDR 19.81 trillion, an increase of 7.7% year-on-year. Meanwhile, imports also rose by 16.1% year-on-year, but only reached IDR 3.33 trillion, with the increase mainly influenced by higher imports of petroleum to meet the needs of the industrial sector and economic activities. In line with the positive trade performance, South Kalimantan’s economy grew by 5.67% in the first quarter of 2026 compared to the same period the previous year. The combination of a strong trade surplus, positive economic growth, and healthy regional fiscal performance provides important capital for South Kalimantan to maintain growth momentum through the end of 2026.
