South Kalimantan Health Office Records 3,990 Acute Respiratory Infection Cases

The South Kalimantan Provincial Health Office, based on combined data from community health centres (Puskesmas) and hospitals up to Sunday (30/8), has recorded 3,990 cases of Acute Respiratory Infection (ISPA).

The Head of the South Kalimantan Provincial Health Office, Diauddin, stated that of this total, 3,506 cases originated from community health centres and 484 cases were reported by hospitals. This data represents a weekly report that is continuously collected and monitored to track the development of ISPA cases in every region.

“This is preliminary weekly data derived from the combined reports of community health centres and hospitals. Because it is weekly in nature, we continue to monitor and evaluate the data to observe the progression of ISPA cases in South Kalimantan,” he said in Banjarbaru on Tuesday.

He explained that based on the distribution across regencies and cities, the highest temporary number of cases was recorded in Banjarmasin with 988 cases, followed by Banjarbaru (670), Hulu Sungai Tengah (405), Banjar (391), Barito Kuala (287), Hulu Sungai Selatan (244), Tanah Laut (218), Kotabaru (210), Tabalong (181), Tanah Bumbu (135), Tapin (102), Balangan (81), and Hulu Sungai Utara with 78 cases.

He emphasised that a high number of reported cases in one area does not necessarily indicate the same condition in other regions.

Therefore, monitoring is conducted periodically involving health service facilities across all regencies and cities.

“The most important thing is ensuring that members of the public experiencing symptoms receive appropriate health services and treatment. We also continue to conduct monitoring through health facilities so that if an increase in cases is detected, an immediate response can be implemented,” said Diauddin.
