South Kalimantan Forestry Service strengthens logging permits supervision through industry guidance
Consistent supervision is required to prevent potential irregularities in the implementation of permits and exploitation of forest resources.
Banjarbaru (ANTARA) - The Forestry Service of South Kalimantan Province (Dishut Kalsel) is strengthening oversight of forestry permits through guidance of the timber industry as a step to improve business compliance and enhance governance of the forestry sector in the region.
Arifuddin, Head of the Planning and Forest Management Division of Dishut Kalsel in Banjarbaru on Saturday, stated that the strengthening effort is focused on forestry sector business permits that include forest product utilisation, forest area usage, and forestry industry activities.
“Guidance is conducted to ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with statutory provisions and sustainable forest management principles,” he said.
He emphasised that consistent supervision is needed to prevent potential deviations in permit implementation and forest resource utilisation.
“During Ramadan this becomes an opportunity for all of us to make changes in a better direction, both personally and in implementing our duties as public servants,” he said.
Arifuddin also stressed that strengthening integrity and professionalism of apparatus is an important part in ensuring that supervisory and guidance functions run effectively and accountably.
Dishut Kalsel asserted that improved organisational performance must be accompanied by strengthened internal control systems and inter-departmental coordination so that permit oversight is more optimal.
Through targeted guidance and continuous monitoring, Dishut Kalsel hopes that the forestry sector in South Kalimantan becomes increasingly regulated, transparent, and capable of contributing to regional economic development without neglecting forest sustainability.
