South Kalimantan completes planting of 148.5 ha for Norway's FOLU Net Sink in two forest farmer groups

Banjarbaru (ANTARA) - The South Kalimantan Provincial Forestry Service has completed forest and land rehabilitation (RHL) planting covering 148.5 hectares in the second and third phases of the Norway Contribution FOLU Net Sink 2030 programme in two forest farmer groups (KTH), with 100% realisation. Head of the RHL Section of the South Kalimantan Forestry Service, Engkos Koswara, in Banjarbaru on Saturday, stated that the first rehabilitation site is in the working area of the Kusan Forest Management Unit (KPH) at KTH Maju Bersama in Sungai Cuka Village, Satui Sub-district, Tanah Bumbu Regency, with a planting area of 120 hectares. The completed RHL activity is next in the working area of the Pulau Laut Sebuku KPH at KTH Tunas Rejeki in Tanjung Lalak Village, Pulau Laut Kepulauan Sub-district, Kotabaru Regency, with a planting area of 28.5 hectares, and the entire area has been fully planted. “Based on field monitoring results, the RHL activities in both KTHs are now entering the plant maintenance stage to ensure optimal growth success rates and maintain the area’s ecological functions in the long term,” said Engkos. He emphasised that guidance for the KTHs continues to strengthen coordination in rehabilitation implementation while increasing group members’ understanding of plant maintenance stages. According to him, this is carried out to unify perceptions and build group solidarity, so all members are gathered in every meeting to ensure understanding and field implementation run in sync. “The activity also serves as an evaluation of RHL implementation, both in terms of planting techniques and maintenance, so that the quality of programme execution can be continuously improved in subsequent activities,” Engkos stated.
