South Kalimantan Collaborates with South Korean Experts to Strengthen Cybersecurity via SOC
The Communication and Informatics Office (Diskominfo) of South Kalimantan Province is collaborating with technology partners and experts from South Korea to strengthen government cybersecurity and the capability to detect and handle digital threats through the implementation of a Security Operations Center (SOC).
Head of Diskominfo South Kalimantan, Muhamad Muslim, stated in Banjarbaru on Wednesday that strengthening cybersecurity is a strategic step for the regional government in facing the increasing risk of attacks on government information systems, which require continuous protection.
“This activity is one of the efforts to optimise the cybersecurity system through the SOC. Experts from South Korea and other speakers provided various inputs, tips, and solution designs on how to build an information security system in South Kalimantan,” he said.
Muslim explained that the SOC is an information security monitoring system that enables the regional government to detect potential disruptions, prevent threats, and accelerate responses in the event of a cybersecurity incident affecting government services.
“Going forward, in anticipating various cyber attack problems, we already have a preventive system, including countermeasure steps,” he said.
He emphasised that strengthening cybersecurity requires not only technological support but also an increase in human resource capacity and synergy among regional apparatuses to make government information security governance more robust.
Diskominfo South Kalimantan presented a cybersecurity expert from South Korea who explained international information security standards and various solutions for building a government digital defence system that is more adaptive to the evolution of cyber threats.
Kim Mansung, Director of PT LS Ware Teknologi Indonesia and an expert from South Korea, said the cooperation is part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between Indonesia and South Korea in developing cybersecurity technology.
“We are a company specifically engaged in the field of cybersecurity. We are currently collaborating with PT LS Ware Teknologi Indonesia, the Association of Communication and Informatics Offices of All Indonesian Provinces (Askompsi), and Scopindo. The South Korean government and the Indonesian government are also strengthening cooperation in the field of cybersecurity technology,” said Kim Mansung.
He conveyed that the collaboration focuses not only on developing information security technology but also includes training, improving human resource capabilities, and supporting the development of a resilient government digital ecosystem.
