South Kalimantan BRIDA Selects 88 Regional Innovations for National Competition
The South Kalimantan Regional Research and Innovation Agency (BRIDA) has received 88 innovation proposals through the 2026 Kalsel Innovation Award (KIA) as part of efforts to strengthen the regional innovation ecosystem and prepare the best entries for national-level competition.
Head of BRIDA Kalsel Thaufik Hidayat stated in Banjarbaru on Thursday that the 88 innovations consist of 40 proposals from the South Kalimantan Provincial Government’s Regional Apparatus Organisations (SKPD) category, 26 from district/city SKPDs, and 22 from the general public category, all of which will now enter the jury assessment stage.
“The jury will select the top 10 innovations in each category to proceed to the presentation stage, so the assessment process measures not only the novelty of ideas but also their benefits, sustainability, and potential for application in supporting improved public services and regional development,” he said.
He noted that the high number of submissions indicates that the culture of innovation in South Kalimantan is growing, serving as crucial capital for generating solutions to various development challenges.
He said this achievement is the result of strengthening the innovation ecosystem carried out by BRIDA, including through the establishment of innovation teams in all SKPDs within the South Kalimantan Provincial Government, so that each regional apparatus has a platform to develop ideas that can be implemented in governance.
He conveyed that all SKPDs within the South Kalimantan Provincial Government now have their own innovation teams, further reinforced by the signing of integrity pacts by regional apparatus leaders as a form of commitment to making innovation part of a sustainable organisational work culture.
He emphasised that the Kalsel Innovation Award is not the final goal for participants, as BRIDA will continue to nurture the best innovations so they can compete in the Public Service Innovation Competition organised by the Ministry of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) and the Innovative Government Award (IGA) held by the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri).
“We hope that more regional innovations will achieve success at the national level, while also being applied more widely to improve the quality of public services, strengthen regional competitiveness, and accelerate development across various sectors,” said Thaufik.
