South Jakarta Water Resources Sub-District Office Considers Closing Depok-bound Access During Lenteng Agung Road Subsidence Repair
JAKARTA – Repair work on a subsided road in Lenteng Agung, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, may necessitate closing the route towards Depok on Friday evening (29 May 2026).
Head of South Jakarta’s Water Resources Sub-District Office, Santo, said closing the road would ease the installation of a new culvert at the subsidence site. “Closing the road would be better; we can work more freely. If not closed, we’d have to work in sections,” he said over the phone on Friday.
He estimated drainage work preparations would begin around 6 PM WIB once traffic eases. “Work has already started; we’ll prepare after Maghrib prayer when traffic thins,” he added.
The previously gaping hole on the road has been temporarily filled with soil, rocks, and steel plates to allow vehicle access towards Depok.
South Jakarta Metropolitan Police Traffic Chief Kompol Mujiyanto said police and the Sub-District Office of Transportation would deploy personnel to manage traffic during repairs. “We urge the public to exercise caution when passing through the area and use alternative routes where possible,” he said in a written statement on Friday.
