South Jakarta Water Resources Sub-District Office head Santo said his team is still working to repair a sinkhole on a road in Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta. Santo apologised to the public, especially road users, for traffic congestion caused by the repair work.

‘I apologise to road users, particularly drivers, and nearby residents. We’re sorry for the traffic jams due to the crossing construction and repair work,’ Santo said at the site on Saturday evening (30 May 2026).

He explained that his office is racing to restore normal traffic flow on the main road by focusing on the primary section to prevent prolonged congestion.

‘We aim to complete the main section within three days. The goal is for traffic to clear up and no longer be congested,’ he added.

The repair involves installing a box culvert to connect water flow from the UI PHB channel to the Ciliwung River. The office targets completing the 10-metre-wide road surface within three days.

‘For the main section, we’re working to finish it in three days. The road surface is 8.5 metres wide, plus the sides making it 10 metres. We’ll compact it tomorrow night with concrete, which will be ready for use after eight hours,’ he explained.

Although the main lane is targeted for completion in three days, Santo noted the total work will take two weeks due to manual stone revetment work along the roadside, which requires careful handling of cable and pole utilities.

At the site on Saturday (30 May), repair work continued into the night despite rain, with heavy machinery dismantling revetments to facilitate water flow.

Traffic around the area was reported to be flowing smoothly, with vehicles using two lanes at reduced speeds.

Previously, the sinkhole had caused severe congestion on Friday morning (29 May), with traffic build-up from Pasar Minggu to Depok in the north-south direction.
