South Jakarta Transportation Agency Disciplines 14 Vehicles for Illegal Parking on Jalan Melawai Raya
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The South Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department (Dishub Jaksel) has disciplined 14 two-wheeled vehicles that were illegally parked on Jalan Melawai Raya, Melawai Ward, Kebayoran Baru District.
“According to statements from shop owners, the large number of two-wheeled vehicles was disrupting business activities. Despite repeated warnings, the violations continued,” said Operational Controller of the South Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department, Ebenezer Lumban Tobing, in Jakarta on Friday.
He explained that the enforcement action was carried out based on complaints from residents, particularly shop owners who felt disturbed by the illegal parking that blocked part of their business premises.
In addition to towing the 14 two-wheeled vehicles, his team, along with 30 combined personnel and local government officials, also issued verbal and written sanctions to illegal parking attendants in the surrounding area.
The enforcement is expected to serve as a deterrent to prevent similar incidents from recurring, ensuring not only that shop owners feel comfortable but also users of public facilities in the vicinity.
“We, along with relevant parties, will conduct regular monitoring in other locations prone to illegal parking. Hopefully, this activity addresses public concerns,” Ebenezer stated.
Meanwhile, one resident, Joko Rahman (38), said that parking problems in front of shops often occur.
Such conditions, he added, frequently spark disputes, especially when shop owners struggle to park their own vehicles.
“Hopefully, with this enforcement, the area will become more orderly and neat,” Joko remarked.
