South Jakarta Transportation Agency Conducts Surprise Inspection on Senopati Sidewalks, Illegally Parked Vehicles Immediately Rectified
The South Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department (Sudinhub Jaksel) carried out a surprise inspection (sidak) on vehicles parked on sidewalks along Jalan Gunawarman to Senopati, South Jakarta, on Wednesday night (22/4/2026). Based on observations at the location, the inspection began around 7:00 PM WIB. Several operational vehicles were deployed, including Dishub patrol cars, tow trucks, and Satpol PP patrol vehicles, which moved slowly along the area from one building to another. Head of Dalops Section at Sudinhub Jaksel, Alfian Michiels, reprimanded a valet attendant at a beauty clinic who was stationed under a white umbrella tent. He requested that the post be relocated to the back of the sidewalk. Initially, the attendant did not comply immediately and was asked to summon management. While the attendant went inside to find management, Sudinhub Jaksel officers promptly relocated the umbrella tent and guard box. Shortly after, Indra (53), the clinic owner, emerged. Alfian then explained to him that visitors’ vehicles should not use the sidewalk as a parking area. After providing advice to Indra, the joint team continued the enforcement at the location. However, according to him, regulating parking on sidewalks and road shoulders is the responsibility of the valet attendants. He also noted that businesses in the area generally rely on valet services due to limited parking space. In front of his own clinic, the parking capacity is only around four to five cars. “As a business owner, I can only follow local regulations. This is the valet’s duty. If it’s not enough, the valet should move them elsewhere,” he said when met at the location on Wednesday. After several vehicles were relocated, the sidewalks became more orderly and free of vehicles. Traffic flow in the area was also observed to be smoother, with no more cars or motorbikes parked on the roadside. Several Satpol PP and Dishub officers stood guard along the roadside, ensuring no vehicles stopped and obstructed traffic. “Please don’t block the yellow-yellow ones (guiding blocks), sir,” said Head of Dalops Section at Sudinhub Jaksel, Alfian Michiels, to each parking attendant. In addition to using vehicles, the patrol was also conducted on foot by officers, with patrol cars following behind.
