South Jakarta Social Services reach 30 welfare service beneficiaries during Ramadhan
Jakarta — The South Jakarta Social Services Sub-Office (Sudinsos Jaksel) reached 30 individuals requiring welfare social services (PPKS), encompassing rough sleepers and beggars, during the month of Ramadhan.
“Based on outreach data collected from 19 February to early March 2026, 30 welfare service beneficiaries were successfully reached from various locations across South Jakarta,” said Bernard Tambunan, Head of the South Jakarta Social Services Sub-Office, when confirmed in Jakarta on Monday.
Bernard stated that his office intensified monitoring and outreach to welfare service beneficiaries during Ramadhan. The identified beneficiaries comprised rough sleepers and beggars, as well as individuals in the abandoned and mentally disabled categories.
“During Ramadhan we are intensifying monitoring and outreach to welfare service beneficiaries together with other elements in each area,” he said.
The identified beneficiaries were then recorded and directed to social institutions or provided with guidance according to their individual circumstances and needs to prevent them from returning to the streets.
Bernard hopes this measure can provide comfort to residents observing the fasting period whilst forming part of the local government’s effort to address social welfare issues in South Jakarta.
“Let us make this Ramadhan full of happiness and together maintain the region’s stability,” he said.
Welfare service beneficiaries in South Jakarta predominantly come from surrounding areas as the region borders neighbouring cities. The office also facilitates the return of beneficiaries to their home areas through official transport cooperation to ensure the process runs orderly and in a coordinated manner.
