Head of the South Jakarta Social Service Sub-Department (Kasudinsos), Bernard Tambunan, said the baby girl found in a nasi uduk cart in Pasar Minggu has been handed over to an orphanage. The infant girl is currently being taken to the orphanage after receiving treatment at Pasar Minggu Health Centre (Puskesmas Pasar Minggu).

Bernard said the orphanage is located in Cipayung, East Jakarta. He added that members of the public who wish to adopt the baby can go directly to the site.

“Well, those who wish to adopt can go directly to the toddler orphanage; there will be procedures there,” he explained.

Earlier, the baby was found in the Pasar Minggu area of South Jakarta (Jaksel). The baby girl was found alive inside a shopping bag inside a nasi uduk cart.

“A baby girl has been found,” said Pasar Minggu Police Chief, Kompol Anggiat Sinambela, on Wednesday (4/3).

The baby was found on Tuesday (3/3) around 17:30 WIB in front of a resident’s house on Jalan Pejaten Raya RT 010 RW 002, Pasar Minggu, Jaksel. The baby was found by residents who were suspicious after hearing cries.

“In the cart, witness Dinda saw a black shopping bag, then she saw a baby girl lying on her side wearing a blue bear-themed outfit and wrapped in a baby blanket,” she said.

Inside the shopping bag, infant formula, wet wipes, baby mittens, and a scrap of paper with writing on it were also found. The residents then cleaned and changed the baby’s diaper.
