The South Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Agency has completed the construction of a new 30-metre water channel on Jalan Menteng Atas Dalam, RT 11/RW 06, Menteng Dalam Urban Village, Setiabudi, to minimise the potential for standing water during rain. Head of the South Jakarta SDA Agency, Santo, stated that the intervention was a rapid response to a public report submitted through the Citizen Relation Management (CRM) application regarding a drainage channel that was not functioning optimally. “It is true, the water channel in RT 11/RW 06 Menteng Dalam has been handled. Alhamdulillah, the residents are very pleased because we built a new channel,” Santo said in Jakarta on Friday. The drainage construction, which began on 9 July 2026, utilised precast U-Ditch concrete measuring 40 centimetres to improve water flow and increase capacity. He explained that the work was carried out manually by the SDA task force at the sub-district level together with South Jakarta SDA officers. “We have also checked it, and the results are better. Hopefully, this drainage system improvement can minimise the potential for flooding during rain,” Santo said. Given the high volume of drainage issue reports in the South Jakarta area, handling is carried out in stages by considering the level of urgency and the availability of personnel in the field. “Essentially, every incoming report regarding channels will definitely be followed up, but it must be done in turns because the number of personnel is limited. If the field personnel are complete, we will certainly handle it immediately,” said Paulus. One resident of RT 11/RW 06 Menteng Dalam, Wahyunar, expressed gratitude for the swift response provided by the SDA Agency. “On behalf of the residents, I am very grateful for the SDA’s rapid response. We hope there will be no more standing water or overflowing water due to channels clogged with rubbish. This new channel must certainly be maintained and looked after together,” he said.
