South Jakarta School Where 996 Weapons Were Found to Implement Temporary Distance Learning

A private school in Pondok Pinang, South Jakarta, where 996 weapons were discovered, will temporarily implement distance learning (PJJ). The policy will be in effect for one week starting Monday. “We all have a concern that to guarantee the safety of the children, the school will temporarily implement PJJ or distance learning,” said Alvon Kurnia Parma, one of the school foundation’s lawyers, during a press conference in South Jakarta on Sunday (9/8/2026). During the PJJ period, they are urging the police to carry out sterilisation. Alvon believes sterilisation is necessary to ensure no negative impression is left on the school. “Along with this, we strongly encourage the police to immediately sterilise areas that we may not be aware of,” he stated. Another lawyer, Annisa Ismail, mentioned that her team has established communication with the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) regarding the matter and plans to hold an audience with them. “Regarding KPAI, the plan is for Monday at 10.00 WIB. We have been in communication with KPAI to be there, and we are grateful, as previously mentioned, to have received a very positive response,” she said. Previously, Alhadid Endra Putra, the attorney for IWD and Director of PT Lokta Karya Perbakin, stated that the 995 airsoft guns belong to his company. The weapons were stored in the school warehouse in connection with a planned extracurricular shooting programme cooperation between PT Lokta Karya Perbakin and the previous school foundation management in 2020. Alhadid claimed the weapons are official and licensed, adding that he has shown the permits to the police. “They (the police) also asked, and we showed them. We will also present these permits at the police station,” he said. He asserted that the current foundation management was already aware of the weapons stored in the warehouse and expressed surprise that they appeared to be unaware of their origin. “I also don’t know why it suddenly erupted, as if they just found out. They also knew there were permits,” he revealed. Alhadid suspects the issue surfaced due to an internal conflict within the school foundation. The conflict reportedly began after a previous foundation trustee was unilaterally dismissed. “It turns out, after I investigated, there is a conflict within the foundation. This concerns Bu N, who has been a trustee since April 2026. So, for five months she occupied that position, and before that, she dismissed another trustee,” he explained.
