South Jakarta Satpol PP Seizes 86 Bottles of Illegal Alcohol During Ramadan
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Satuan Polisi Pamong Praja (Satpol PP) of South Jakarta seized 86 bottles of alcoholic beverages during Ramadan in a bid to uphold order in the local area.
“This activity is carried out as a form of enforcing restrictions on alcoholic beverages to maintain public order and safety during the holy month of Ramadan 1447 Hijri,” said Nanto Dwi Subekti, head of the South Jakarta Satpol PP, when contacted in Jakarta on Friday.
He explained that in several inspections conducted during Ramadan, they found 86 bottles of unauthorised alcoholic beverages in the Cilandak district.
The enforcement, he said, was not solely aimed at unauthorised alcoholic drinks, but also at illicit drugs and public nuisance.
A total of 1,336 illicit drug tablets were seized in the Pesanggrahan district during the operation. Additionally, two male sex workers (PSK) and 15 recipients of social welfare services (PPKS) were secured in the Kebayoran Baru district.
“For shops that sell unauthorised alcoholic beverages and illegal drugs, we will issue written sanctions and destroy the evidence. For PPKS and others, they will be handled by the relevant agency, namely the Dinas Sosial (Social Service),” Nanto said.
He also urged all ranks in South Jakarta to collaborate with community leaders and residents to maintain order during Ramadan.
He also advised parents to always supervise their children during Ramadan activities. Let this holy month not be stained by negative activities or juvenile delinquency.
“Hopefully, what we are doing will provide benefits and a positive impact on the community,” Nanto added.
