South Jakarta Residents Ready: Iftar Schedule for Friday 6 March

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Muslim residents of South Jakarta are fasting on the 16th day of Ramadhan 1447 Hijri on Friday (6 March 2026) and are preparing to break their fast later in the evening.

Knowing the imsakiyah timetable is important during Ramadhan as it guides Muslims in observing the fast and the five daily prayers.

Each region in Indonesia has its own imsakiyah schedule, including South Jakarta.

The schedule is quoted from the official site of the Directorate General of Guidance for the Muslim Community, Ministry of Religious Affairs.

The government through the Ministry of Religious Affairs set the start of fasting for 1 Ramadhan 1447 Hijri on Thursday, 19 February 2026.

This decision was taken after the Isbat session held at the Kemenag offices in Jakarta on the afternoon of Tuesday, 17 February 2026, chaired by Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar.

This year the start of Ramadan was not uniform, as Muhammadiyah began fasting on Wednesday, 18 February 2026.

This difference does not invalidate the worship, and all Muslims are urged to respect one another.

The Isbat session involved various Islamic organisations, falak experts, and astronomical institutions, and was conducted using a method that combines hisab and rukyatul hilal to maintain uniformity while respecting the different methods that have developed in society.
