South Jakarta Removes 'P Blue' Parking Signs Following Complaints About Sewage Trucks
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The South Jakarta Transportation Department (Sudinhub Jaksel) has removed parking signs with the letter “P” in white on a blue background on Jalan Tebet Barat 4 due to numerous complaints about sewage trucks parking in the area.
“But currently, because of the many complaints from the public, a proposal will be made to remove the ‘P Blue’ signs in the location,” said the Head of the South Jakarta Transportation Department, Bernard Octavianus Pasaribu, to reporters in Jakarta, Thursday.
Bernard said that once the signs have been removed, the South Jakarta Transportation Department will take action to regulate the sewage trucks in the area.
The process of removing the parking signs is an absolute requirement according to regulations before transportation officers can carry out enforcement.
The South Jakarta Transportation Department has also promised to immediately clear the area of the offending truck fleet, as soon as the official designated parking permit is revoked.
Therefore, they did not take action previously because the location was a designated parking area.
“Currently, there are ‘P Blue’ signs in the location, and because it is a designated area, we did not take action against it,” he said.
It is hoped that this effort will end the complaints of residents of Tebet Barat who have long desired a clean and healthy sidewalk.
Previously, it went viral on the Instagram social media account @jakarta.infoo, with residents in the Tebet Barat area, South Jakarta, complaining about the presence of dozens of sewage trucks that were permanently parked on the sidewalk.
In addition to damaging the aesthetics of the environment, the presence of these human waste transport vehicles was also said to be causing traffic congestion by obstructing pedestrian routes.
Moreover, residents had actually reported the issue several times through the JAKI application, but allegedly did not receive a quick response from the relevant officers.
