South Jakarta reminds padel owners to use soundproofing and provide parking

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The South Jakarta Administrative City Government reminded padel owners to use soundproofing and to provide parking to ensure collective comfort.

‘They are expected to have soundproofing, not to disturb the surroundings, and also to have parking,’ said South Jakarta Mayor Muhammad Anwar when contacted in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Anwar said the order is in line with the instruction of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung regarding the licensing of padel court construction.

It is hoped that a number of applicable rules can be realized for padel owners, both in commercial zones and non-commercial zones.

‘Tor padel courts in residential areas that are not licensed, they should be sealed and licenses cannot be issued. For those that are licensed, operating hours should be regulated, so as not to disturb residents, no later than 20:00 WIB in the evening,’ he said.

These rules are in accordance with applicable law, namely Government Regulation (PP) Number 16 of 2021 on Building Construction and PP Number 21 of 2021 on Spatial Planning, buildings that do not have a license will be subject to sanctions in the form of sealing.

Based on discussions by the DKI Provincial Government regarding padel courts, new permits for building padel courts are not allowed in residential zones.

Currently, new padel court construction must be carried out in commercial zones.

Meanwhile, padel courts that have PBG (building permit) but are located in residential areas are advised to negotiate with the mayor and related officials, with a specified operating time.

Furthermore, for all padel courts in residential areas, even if they already have a PBG permit, may operate only until 20:00 WIB.

Next, if the padel court causes noise due to the ball bouncing or shouting that disturbs the community, it must be soundproofed.
