South Jakarta provides assistance to fire survivors in Kebayoran Lama
Jakarta (ANTARA) - South Jakarta’s Social Sub-Department, along with the Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), provided assistance to survivors of the fire on Jalan Cendrawasih, RT 08/08, Kebayoran Lama Selatan Ward, Kebayoran Lama Sub-District.
“On the night after the incident, we immediately distributed aid to the evacuation site, received by ward officials and residents,” said the Head of South Jakarta’s Social Sub-Department, Bernard Tambunan, in Jakarta on Friday.
Bernard stated that the aid was provided directly following the fire that razed four houses and impacted at least 25 individuals.
He detailed the aid, which included three sets of school supplies each, household cleaning equipment, bathing kits, bedding, roll-up tents, hygiene equipment or family kits, and seven food packages each.
“We have also coordinated to meet the needs for ready-to-eat food and mineral water according to the number and requirements of the fire survivors,” he said.
Meanwhile, Commander of the South Jakarta BPBD Platoon, Muhammad Nur, added that they provided assistance in the form of 15 bedding kits, clothing packages, and family kits.
BPBD also set up one evacuation tent near the fire site to provide temporary shelter for survivors during the recovery process.
“Hopefully, the aid we provide can alleviate the burden of the fire survivors for the time being,” he stated.
Head of the Operations Section of South Jakarta’s Fire and Rescue Mitigation Sub-Department (Gulkarmat), Sjukri Bahanan, explained that in extinguishing the fire that occurred on Thursday (16/4) afternoon, they deployed 30 fire engines with 141 personnel.
“The extinguishing process continued until the fire was brought under control. Preliminary suspicions indicate the fire was triggered by an electrical short circuit from one of the houses,” said Sjukri.
