South Jakarta Prepares New Parking Pockets at Taman Bendera Pusaka
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The South Jakarta City Government (Pemkot Jaksel) is preparing new parking pockets in the Taman Bendera Pusaka area as an effort to address the frequent complaints from residents about indiscriminate parking. “For Taman Bendera Pusaka, several points have indeed already been prepared. There are also some points that are prohibited,” said the Head of the South Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department, Bernad Pasaribu, when contacted in Jakarta on Monday. Bernad stated that residents’ complaints arise because park visitors park their vehicles in residential areas. To address this, the government has prepared several parking points and is planning to add new locations in the former Taman Lauser area, which connects to Taman Bendera Pusaka. “The plan is for the former Taman Lauser site that connects to Taman Bendera Pusaka, including parts of it, to be used for additional parking. The slots there are quite spacious,” he said. In addition, some areas such as the former Taman Langsat have been sterilised from vehicle parking to maintain order and comfort in public spaces. Meanwhile, parking is still permitted in the former Taman Ayodya. Therefore, the South Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department urges the public to comply with the established parking rules to maintain order and mutual comfort. The government hopes this arrangement can reduce illegal parking while meeting visitors’ needs without disturbing nearby residents’ comfort. Previously, DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo urged visitors to Taman Bendera Pusaka to use public transport because parking spaces at the location are limited. Parking spaces for cars and motorbikes are indeed available at Taman Bendera Pusaka. However, their capacity is not sufficient. Therefore, Pramono hopes that in the future, visitors to the park can choose to use public transport such as Transjakarta.
