South Jakarta Police Respond Swiftly to Resident's Report of Silver Street Performer Assault via 110 Hotline
A minor assault took place in Pancoran, South Jakarta, when a man was struck by a gas lighter thrown by a silver-painted street performer.
The incident caused a commotion in the Pancoran area, prompting residents to report it to the national police call centre on 110. Officers responded by proceeding immediately to the scene.
“The victim was hit by a lighter thrown by a silver performer. The silver performer then fled. Residents helped by calling 110, and officers arrived promptly,” said Pancoran Police Chief Superintendent Mansur on Thursday (19 February 2026).
The incident occurred on Wednesday (18 February). Members of the Pancoran Police subsequently searched for two female silver-painted street performers who had thrown the lighter at the victim.
Officers also issued public safety and order advisories to nearby residents. However, the victim did not wish to pursue legal action as he had not sustained any injuries.
“The victim did not file a report. We assisted with security measures to search for the perpetrator who had fled. The victim said, ‘It’s fine, officer, let it go — I’m not hurt,’” he said.
The minor assault occurred spontaneously. The underlying reason for the silver street performer throwing the gas lighter at the victim remains unknown.
“It happened spontaneously — the lighter was suddenly thrown by the silver performer. Then the silver performer fled,” he said.
