South Jakarta Police reactivate neighbourhood security posts during Ramadan
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The South Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polres Jaksel) has reactivated neighbourhood security posts (Satkamling) during Ramadan 1447 Hijriah to maintain security and order in the area.
“We are reactivating the Satkamling posts. These consist of all elements, including the Police, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and the Babinsa (Territorial Army Unit),” said South Jakarta Metropolitan Police Chief, Commissioner I Putu Yuni Setiawan, during a Security and Social Order Readiness Ceremony at the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Thursday.
This activity involves various community elements, including online motorcycle taxi drivers (ojek daring/ojol), community organisations (ormas), and community security groups (Pokdar Kamtibmas).
The security focus during Ramadan includes several potential disturbances that often occur, such as youth brawls, illegal racing, and the phenomenon of ‘sarong wars’ which usually emerges during the fasting month.
He asked all involved elements to actively provide information and carry out prevention in their respective areas.
In addition, he also reminded residents to be careful when they want to go home for Eid and leave their homes empty.
“Ahead of Eid al-Fitr, many residents have returned to their hometowns and left their homes empty. This is what we need to protect together so that no crimes such as theft or other crimes occur,” he said.
During the Ramadan security period, the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police deployed 150 personnel.
The Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police is strengthening collaboration between the police and the community to maintain the stability of the capital’s security during Ramadan.
