Imam, met by detikcom at the RT 11 neighbourhood watch post, stated that he has undertaken numerous innovations to enhance security in his area, as it is the most fundamental need for residents. According to him, environmental security is a basic requirement for the community.

“The main motivation is that in the neighbourhood, the primary position is the foundation, and that foundation must be secure first. Once the secure foundation is achieved, we can move on to comfort. It must be comfortable, and only after comfort can it develop into other areas,” explained Imam during the meeting on Saturday (9/5/2026).

Imam, who is also a Polri officer in the Intelligence and Security division at national police headquarters with the rank of Iptu, has a thorough understanding of maintaining security. As a member of the Bhayangkara force, he attempts to implement the knowledge he possesses in providing service and protection starting from the smallest scope, namely his residents.

“This is also part of our implementation as police in serving and protecting the community. The knowledge we gain in the police force must be applied in social life,” explained Imam.

“By creating a secure environment, this is a tangible manifestation of us serving and protecting the community,” he continued.

Despite being busy with police duties, Imam claims it is no issue. He considers being the RT Chairman equivalent to performing official police duties.

“We must be able to do it; we must maximise both. Maximise at the office, maximise in the neighbourhood. We treat community work as a duty, we serve in the community,” he added.

So far, the innovations made by Imam to improve security in his area include installing a smart gate or digital gate, a 24/7 CCTV surveillance system connected to residents’ smartphones, a panic button system when residents encounter problems in the neighbourhood, providing GPS to each motorcycle owned by residents which is monitored on their phones, and a nightly reminder voice to urge residents to jointly maintain security, named ‘Si Jaga Warga’.

From all his efforts in enhancing neighbourhood security, RT 11 has remained free of criminal acts to date. He attributes this to the cooperation from the residents.

“The results, alhamdulillah, up to now from the launch until present, alhamdulillah zero criminality, zero motorcycle theft, zero other activities,” he concluded.
