Jakarta (ANTARA) – The South Jakarta Metropolitan Police conducted surprise urine tests to prevent drug abuse among its personnel at the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police Headquarters. “This urine test is a concrete manifestation of the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police. Before we take action against members of the public who abuse drugs, we must first ensure that our own body, our internal organisation, is free from these illicit substances,” said the Head of Public Relations of the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police, AKBP Murodih, to reporters in Jakarta on Wednesday. This measure was taken as a firm commitment by the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police in its efforts to “clean up” internally and ensure that all members are free from drug and prohibited substance abuse. The activity, which was carried out after the morning parade, took place under the strict supervision of the Professional and Security Division (Propam). “This activity is a routine agenda carried out incidentally (as a surprise) as a function of control and supervision of members,” he said. The South Jakarta Metropolitan Police affirmed that it would not tolerate any member who is found to be positive for drug use. Strict sanctions in accordance with the Code of Ethics of the National Police and general criminal regulations have been prepared for those who violate the rules. “If anyone tests positive, we will certainly process them according to the applicable legal procedures, without any discrimination. This is to maintain the dignity of the institution and public trust in the National Police,” said Murodih.
