The South Jakarta Education Agency (Sudin) Region I has announced the merger of SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09 and 11 Pagi, citing a drive for management effectiveness and efficiency at the school level. “For effectiveness and efficiency of management at the education unit (school) level,” said Santoso, Head of Sudin Education Region I South Jakarta, on Wednesday.

He stated that the merger plan has been in place since 2025, with the construction proposal targeted to begin in 2027. The new building will likely utilise the SDN 09 site. Five rooms are affected by the plan: four classrooms (1A, 2A, 3A, and 4A) and the School Health Unit (UKS) room. Teaching and learning activities have been suspended, even though only five rooms are impacted.

While awaiting construction, students from SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09 have been temporarily relocated to the neighbouring SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 11 Pagi. The construction project has been included in the 2025 planning document, or Detailed Engineering Design (DED). Although the initial proposal targeted a 2027 realisation, there is hope for acceleration given the phased budget mechanism. Currently, 274 students from grades 1 to 6 are enrolled at the school, a decrease from the previous 300.
