South Jakarta Mayor Reveals Age as Cause of SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09 Damage

South Jakarta Mayor Syafrin Liputo has confirmed that the municipal government will soon rebuild the SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09 building, which suffered structural damage. Syafrin explained that the deterioration was triggered by the building’s age, having been originally constructed in 1974. Although the school had undergone minor renovations over the years, the core structure was never addressed. “Because of its age, the building eventually suffered damage,” Syafrin stated during a site inspection on Thursday. He noted that the accelerated reconstruction follows a directive from Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, with the project currently in the final stages of technical planning. Since the damage occurred in late 2024, all teaching and learning activities have been relocated to a nearby school to ensure student safety. Syafrin emphasised that the safety of students remains the top priority, and the administration is committed to providing a more modern and secure learning facility.
