South Jakarta’s Suku Dinas Ketahanan Pangan, Kelautan, dan Pertanian (Sudin KPKP) has carried out free rabies vaccinations for 1,255 rabies-susceptible animals (HPR) during February 2026 to safeguard animal health. “Total there are 1,255 HPR vaccinated, and the majority are cats, amounting to 1,117 individuals. In addition, there are 121 dogs, 13 monkeys, and four civets that also received the rabies vaccine,” said the Head of the Livestock and Animal Health Section of Sudin KPKP Jakarta Selatan, Irawati Harry Artharini, in Jakarta on Friday. She said the rabies vaccination was conducted in eight districts with an average reach of more than 100 HPR per district. In detail, the number of HPR vaccinated in Cilandak District reached 160, Jagakarsa 239, Kebayoran Baru 67, and Pancoran 191. Then, in Pasar Minggu District there were 126 HPR, Pesanggrahan 164, Setiabudi 183, and Tebet 125. “This vaccination is carried out as an effort to prevent the spread of rabies while also safeguarding the health of pets and the public,” Irawati said. “I hope this programme will raise public awareness to protect pets and at the same time prevent the transmission of rabies,” Irawati added. She emphasised that Sudin KPKP Jakarta Selatan is committed to intensifying rabies vaccination with a target of 10,200 HPR in 2026. “We are determined to maintain Jakarta’s Rabies-Free status,” Irawati asserted.
