South Jakarta Sub-District Office of Food Security, Marine and Agriculture (Sudin KPKP) collected 47 food product samples from traditional markets and shopping malls ahead of Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah.

“During the food inspection activity, samples of agricultural and livestock products were taken at various locations in South Jakarta,” said Ida Masni, Head of the Food Security and Agriculture Section at Sudin KPKP Jakarta Selatan, when contacted in Jakarta on Tuesday.

She stated that the sampling was conducted to ensure food safety in the community.

The inspection was carried out at five locations: Transmart Cilandak, Lenteng Agung Market, Minggu Market, Warung Buncit Market, and Mampang Prapatan Market.

During the activity, officials collected 37 agricultural product samples and 10 livestock product samples, totalling 47 samples.

At Lenteng Agung Market, 11 samples were taken, comprising nine agricultural products and two livestock products.

Meanwhile, nine samples each were collected at Minggu Market, Warung Buncit Market, and Mampang Prapatan Market.

Ida said preliminary test results for livestock products showed all samples were negative for harmful substances.

“The livestock product tests were negative for harmful substances, meaning 100% safe,” she said.

For agricultural products, further testing is being conducted at Cibubur Laboratory to check for pesticide residues and other harmful substances.

She emphasised that the inspection provides reassurance to the public when purchasing food items ahead of Eid al-Adha.
