South Jakarta Immigration: PIM Immigration Lounge Always Reaches 50 Applicant Quota
The South Jakarta Special Class I Non-TPI Immigration Office has noted that passport services at the Immigration Lounge in Pondok Indah Mall (PIM), South Jakarta, consistently meet the quota of 50 applicants for expedited same-day passport processing.
Rian Kasim, Head of the Information and Communication Section at the South Jakarta Immigration Office, stated that the quota is always filled on both weekdays and weekends, reflecting high public enthusiasm for this innovative immigration service.
“Every day, the quota of 50 applicants for the expedited or same-day service, where the passport is completed within one day, is fully occupied,” he said during an interview at the PIM Immigration Lounge on Saturday.
The daily quota for passport services is limited to 50 applicants, all of whom must book through the M-Paspor application.
Since its opening in June 2024, the PIM Immigration Lounge has issued over one thousand passports. Currently, the service is focused on processing travel documents, while services for foreign nationals are not yet available at this location.
“The quota is filled every day, and since we are also open on weekends, we have issued more than one thousand passports in total,” Rian added.
He explained that the presence of immigration lounges in shopping centres is intended to bring immigration services closer to the public.
In addition to PIM, the South Jakarta Immigration Office has also opened similar services at Kebayoran Park Mall. Collaborations with other parties are being explored to expand immigration services beyond the main office.
“We are waiting for proposals from other shopping malls. If they provide the space, God willing, there will be cooperation in the future,” said Rian.
Speaking at the same location, one of the applicants, Sita, said that the weekend service is very helpful for her and her husband, as both are working professionals, especially since they are also processing passports for their child.
She noted that the location within a shopping centre is a significant advantage. Sita expressed satisfaction with the service, noting that officers were prompt in assisting applicants from start to finish.
“We were assisted immediately upon arrival. The service inside is also excellent,” she said.
Another applicant, Andi, who was processing the replacement of a standard passport to an electronic passport for his child, shared similar sentiments. He stated that the Saturday service provides a solution for those who work during the week and for children who are in school.
