South Jakarta Immigration Office Arrests Chinese DJ and Thai Dancer for Alleged Residency Permit Violations
Jakarta — The South Jakarta Immigration Office has arrested a disc jockey (DJ) and a dancer, both foreign nationals, who are strongly suspected of misusing their residency permits.
The arrests were carried out through a Joint Operation by the Foreign Nationals Supervisory Team (Tim Pora) together with Pomdam Jaya in the Kuningan area of South Jakarta in the early hours of Sunday, 15 February 2026.
"During the operation, officers apprehended ZS (a Chinese national) and KS (a Thai national) at a nightlife entertainment venue in the Kuningan area of South Jakarta," said the Head of the South Jakarta Immigration Office, Winarko, as quoted by ANTARA on Tuesday, 17 February 2026.
Based on evidence and preliminary examination, ZS was working as a DJ and had entered Indonesia using a Visa on Arrival (VoA), whilst KS was performing as a dancer using the Visa-Free Visit (BVK) facility.
In addition to residency permit violations as stipulated under Article 122 Paragraph (a) of Law Number 6 of 2011 on Immigration, officers also discovered on the ground that the location was allegedly a gathering point for a community that should not have been there.
The Head of the South Jakarta Immigration Office emphasised that these findings have become a matter of special attention for the relevant authorities.
"We are not only focused on immigration document violations, but we also have a moral and legal responsibility to safeguard the South Jakarta area from activities that have the potential to undermine the social and cultural norms of the Indonesian nation," he said.
In response to these findings, the South Jakarta Immigration Office has taken strategic measures in the form of administrative immigration actions.
Both foreign nationals have been detained at the South Jakarta Immigration Office to undergo in-depth examination and face the threat of deportation and blacklisting sanctions.
He affirmed that the state is present to ensure that every foreigner in Indonesia must respect the prevailing laws, including the moral values upheld by society.
"We will not give space to practices that contravene the law," he said.
The South Jakarta Immigration Office has urged the public to continue actively reporting the presence and activities of suspicious foreigners through official complaint channels in the interest of maintaining shared security and order.
