South Jakarta Hotel Murder Case Timeline Ends with Suspect Arrested

A young woman identified as L was found dead in a hotel room in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta. The 20-year-old victim was murdered.

AKP Joko Adiwibowo, Head of Public Relations for South Jakarta Metro Police, stated the victim was discovered on Friday, 29 May 2026, at approximately 12:30 PM WIB.

‘On Friday, 29 May 2026 at around 12:30 PM WIB, Kebayoran Baru Police Station received a report of a woman found dead in a hotel room in the area and responded to the crime scene,’ Joko said in his statement on Saturday (30/5/2026).

Joko added that the victim was a hotel guest. She was discovered lifeless when hotel staff attempted to confirm payment for the room.

‘Hotel staff attempted to confirm payment by knocking on the room door, but received no response. They then used the hotel key to open the door and discovered the incident,’ he explained.

Police subsequently processed the crime scene and identified the body. The victim’s remains were then transported to Polri Kramat Jati Hospital in East Jakarta for autopsy.

The victim was found lying on her back with head injuries, her face covered by a blue T-shirt.

‘The victim was found by hotel staff lying on the floor with blood present, and her face covered by a T-shirt,’ said Kombes Budi Hermanto, Head of Public Relations for the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, in his statement on Saturday (30/5).

Suspect Arrested

Kombes Budi Hermanto confirmed the victim was murdered, and police have arrested the suspect.

‘This is a confirmed murder case, and the suspect has been detained by the Subdirectorate of Criminal Investigations (Jatanras) under the Jakarta Metropolitan Police’s Criminal Investigation Directorate,’ Hermanto said.

The suspect was arrested less than 24 hours after the body was discovered, at approximately 12:50 AM on Saturday, 30 May, in Taman Cilandak, Jalan Lebak Bulus V, South Jakarta, by the Jatanras Subdirectorate team.

Budi Hermanto did not disclose details regarding the suspect’s identity or the murder timeline, stating that the suspect is currently undergoing intensive interrogation at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police headquarters.

‘The suspect remains under questioning,’ he added.
