Jakarta (ANTARA) - The South Jakarta Food Security, Maritime, and Agriculture Agency (Sudin KPKP Jaksel) is mapping connecting channels (Phb) that have the potential to be inhabited by janitor fish. “We identified at least four to five points yesterday that have potential for janitor fish,” said the Head of Sudin KPKP South Jakarta, Ridho Sosro, when met in Setu Babakan, South Jakarta, on Friday. He stated that several points have been surveyed for the janitor fish capture operation, namely the Bintaro Permai area, Cilandak, Setiabudi, and Tebet. The fish capture activity is expected to be carried out sustainably and in a targeted manner, in line with the instructions of the Mayor of South Jakarta. “What was conveyed by the Mayor is that safety must certainly be considered, both for our officers and we must certainly know for sure the locations where the population is indeed very large,” Ridho said. In the janitor fish capture operation activity at Setu Babakan on Friday, 50 combined personnel were deployed, consisting of Sudin KPKP Jaksel, the DKI Jakarta Centre for Production Inspection and Certification of Fishery Products (PPISHP), the South Jakarta Water Resources Agency (SDA), the Cleanliness Implementation Unit (UPK) of the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency’s Water Body, personnel from the Public Infrastructure and Facilities Handling Unit (PPSU) of Srengseng Sawah Village, Jagakarsa Sub-District, and the Area Management Unit (UPK) of the Betawi Cultural Village (PBB) Setu Babakan. The South Jakarta City Government targets capturing five tonnes of janitor fish in the population control activity in the Setu Babakan area, Jagakarsa. The activity is a follow-up to the instructions of DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung to maintain the balance of the water ecosystem. After being caught, Sudin KPKP South Jakarta carries out the destruction of the janitor fish by slicing and burying them as a follow-up to the Governor of DKI Jakarta’s instructions in maintaining the environmental ecosystem. Furthermore, Sudin KPKP South Jakarta is also tracing janitor fish processing in integrated food supervision as an effort to ensure consumer safety.
