The South Jakarta Environmental Office (Sudin LH) has set a target for 1,700 vehicles to undergo free emission testing throughout 2026 as part of an effort to reduce air pollution caused by motor vehicle exhaust.

“Vehicles that have completed the emission test will be recorded in the e-Uji Emisi application. This can also serve as evidence should emission testing be required for other purposes,” said Tuty Ernawati Sapardin, Head of the Pollution and Environmental Damage Control Section of the South Jakarta Environmental Office, in Jakarta on Monday.

She stated that the emission tests are conducted to ensure that pollutant levels from vehicle exhaust do not exceed the established thresholds.

She explained that the target of 1,700 vehicles is divided into four quarters. For the first quarter, the target is 200 vehicles, while the second, third, and fourth quarters each aim for 500 vehicles.

To achieve this target, the South Jakarta Environmental Office will hold regular emission testing at 10 sub-district offices across South Jakarta, targeting 100 vehicles per activity.

“Emission testing will also be conducted through law enforcement activities and other supporting programmes,” Tuty added.

“Last year, the target was 1,500 vehicles, but by the end of the fourth quarter, almost 2,000 vehicles had undergone testing. Hopefully, this year the number can be even higher,” she said.

She also urged the public to conduct regular vehicle emission tests at least once a year. “This step is important to support the creation of better air quality in Jakarta,” Tuty concluded.
