Jakarta (ANTARA) - The South Jakarta Environmental Agency (Sudin LH) has swiftly mobilised 190 trucks of various sizes to address the buildup of waste.

“Trucks are used to transport waste from residential areas to temporary collection points (TPS),” said the Head of the South Jakarta Environmental Agency, Dedy Setiono, in Jakarta on Monday.

Dedy explained that the deployed fleet consists of various types, ranging from mini dump trucks, arm roll trucks, compactor trucks, to large-capacity typer trucks.

Additionally, 1,107 personnel are deployed daily to transport waste and prevent accumulation at various points across the 10 sub-districts.

“The volume of waste in South Jakarta reaches around 1,120 tons per day. This amount tends to increase during long holidays or religious holidays,” he stated.

“Residual waste is collected at TPS for subsequent disposal to the Bantar Gebang Integrated Waste Treatment Facility (TPST),” he added.

Therefore, he urged the public to maintain environmental cleanliness and reduce waste production by sorting at the source.

“This aligns with Governor’s Regulation No. 77 of 2020 on Waste Management in Community Units,” he said.

Based on data from the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency for 2025, the volume of waste in Jakarta averages more than 7,900 tons per day.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is working to manage this waste through reduction at the source and processing at the Bantargebang TPST.
