South Jakarta Education Office Urges Students to Actively Take Part in O2SN Climbing

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The South Jakarta Sub-Department of Education encourages active participation of students in the 2026 National Student Sports Olympiad (O2SN) climbing event at the junior high and senior high school levels. ‘Sports competitions can motivate students to become more active, healthy, disciplined, and to possess a good competitive spirit,’ said Santoso, Head of the Education Sub-Department for Jakarta Selatan’s Region I, during the event in Jakarta on Thursday. Santoso stated that O2SN has a positive impact on student development within the school environment. He also hopes climbing can develop further and be known more widely in schools, especially in South Jakarta. Meanwhile, Head of the Education Sub-Department for Region II Jakarta Selatan, Sarwoko, appreciates the organisation of the O2SN climbing event in 2026. ‘Through this event, it is hoped that more students will be attracted to positive sports and at the same time develop their potential in non-academic fields. Thanks to the full support from FPTI and Nusa Climb in implementing the O2SN Climbing 2026,’ Sarwoko said. The event, held at Nusa Climb in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, lasted two days from 19-20 May 2026. A total of 79 male and female students from various junior and senior high schools in South Jakarta took part. Participants competed in two different disciplines. On the first day, Tuesday (19/5), the competition featured the lead event, while on the second day the participants contended in the speed event. Several teachers and school aides were present to provide direct support. ‘This event serves as a platform for students to showcase their abilities in climbing and to sharpen sportsmanship, discipline, and self-confidence,’ said Meihart Kosterman, Manager of Nusa Climb.
