South Jakarta Education Authority to Oversee Reconstruction of Damaged Primary School

The South Jakarta Education Sub-department (Sudindik) will oversee the reconstruction of SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09 Pagi, which previously suffered severe damage.

“Although the construction process will be carried out by a third party and based on funding from the Floor Area Ratio (KLB) scheme from the private sector, of course we as the Provincial Government will conduct strict supervision, which is our obligation towards the construction process,” said Santoso, Head of the Education Sub-department for Region I of South Jakarta, in Jakarta on Wednesday.

The supervision is intended to ensure that the construction, which will merge SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09 and SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 11 Pagi, proceeds on schedule and meets the established quality standards.

He invited the public to also monitor the construction process so that its implementation runs transparently and in accordance with regulations.

“Clearly, the public also has the right to know about the construction. We will carry out our main duties and functions, and of course we will supervise the construction process activities,” he said.

“According to the schedule, by the end of August we should be able to complete it. Hopefully the demolition process can also be finished by early September, and after that we can immediately hold the groundbreaking for the new building,” he said.

Santoso said that outreach regarding the relocation has been conducted with representatives of parents and school committees at SDN KLS 09 and SDN KLS 11.

The outreach involved the DKI Jakarta Education Office, as well as sub-district and urban village level governments.

Regarding the relocation during construction, students of SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09 will attend teaching and learning activities at SDN Pondok Pinang 05.
