The South Jakarta District Court has scheduled the reading of the verdict for the pre-call motion filed by the former Deputy Minister of Immigration and Correctional Services for 2025-2026, Silmy Karim, for this afternoon.

The hearing is planned to take place in the afternoon. “At 16:00 WIB,” stated Halida Rahardhini, Public Relations Officer of the South Jakarta District Court, when confirmed via text message on Tuesday (29/9).

Case number 163/Pid.Pra/2026/PN is being examined and adjudicated by a single judge, Yuliana.

In his application, Silmy is contesting the coercive measures of detention and seizure carried out by the Corruption Eradification Commission (KPK). One of the primary points of the pre-trial lawsuit concerns the validity of the KPK’s administrative letters and all procedures within the investigation process, including the alignment of documents with the actions taken by investigators.

Meanwhile, the KPK has requested that Judge Yuliana reject Silmy’s pre-trial motion. The KPK’s Legal Bureau maintains that all legal actions taken against Silmy comply with the applicable rules and regulations.

During the proceedings, both Silmy’s legal counsel and the KPK have presented evidence and expert testimony to strengthen their respective legal arguments.

Silmy Karim, along with seven others, was named a suspect by the KPK in a case involving alleged extortion regarding foreign national (WNA) stay permits and/or the receipt of gratifications between 2022 and 2026. The other suspects include the Acting Director General of Immigration for the 2024-2025 period, Saffar Muhammad Godam; Director of Stay Permits, Jaya Saputra; Sub-directorate Head at the Directorate of Stay Permits, Bagus Bramantyo and Tessar Bayu Setyaji; the Head of the Central Jakarta Immigration Office for 2024-2025 and West Jakarta Immigration Office for 2025-2026, Ronald Arman Abdullah; Head of the Limited Stay Permit (ITAS) Status Change Team, Juniadi Sri Priambudi; and Stay Permit Sub-directorate Staff, Gusti Bernardiansyah.

All suspects are currently being held at the KPK Detention Centre.

The suspects are charged with violating Article 12 letter e and/or Article 12B of the Law on the Eradication of Corruption Crimes (UU Tipikor) in conjunction with Article 20 letter c of Law Number 1 of 2023 regarding the Criminal Code (KUHP).

The case was uncovered by the KPK through a sting operation (OTT) on 2-3 June 2026. During the operation, the KPK arrested 18 individuals, one of whom, Silmy Karim, surrendered himself.

The KPK also discovered and secured various pieces of evidence allegedly related to or resulting from the corruption crime, with a total value reaching Rp17.5 billion in various forms. This includes 7 cars, 15 motorcycles, 11 bicycles, bank account balances, crypto asset accounts, and various foreign currencies.

In the investigation process so far, the KPK has seized assets valued at approximately Rp150 billion.
