Jakarta — The South Jakarta District Court has rejected a preliminary examination motion submitted by former Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas against the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). The ruling was announced by single judge Sulistyo Muhamad Dwi Putro during a hearing held on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.

“The court rejects the respondent’s exception in full. Regarding the merits of the case, the court rejects the applicant’s preliminary examination motion in its entirety,” stated Judge Sulistyo in announcing the court order.

In his deliberation, the judge emphasized that the evidentiary system applicable in Indonesia adopts the principle of free judicial conviction based on evidence recognised by law.

Consequently, the preliminary examination motion filed by Yaqut cannot be granted. After examining the motion, the statements of the parties involved, and the evidence presented during the hearing, the judge determined that the entire motion should be rejected.
