South Jakarta District Court Judge Dismissed After Receiving Rp 1.9 Billion in Case Handling Fees

The Judicial Commission (KY) and the Supreme Court (MA) reconvened the Judicial Honour Panel (MKH) against Judicial Judge at the South Jakarta District Court (formerly Chief Judge of Kudus District Court) with the initials SW on Tuesday (23/6/2026). The session was previously adjourned because the reported judge, SW, was unwell. SW was sanctioned with a dishonourable discharge. This was because he was proven to have received auction object payments amounting to Rp 1.9 billion. “Imposing a severe sanction in the form of a dishonourable discharge, as stipulated in Article 19 paragraph (4) letter e of the Joint Regulation of the Supreme Court and the Judicial Commission Number 02/PB/MA/IX/2012 and 02/PB/P.KY/09/2012 concerning Guidelines for the Enforcement of the Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct for Judges,” said MKH Presiding Judge Hamdi during a press briefing in Jakarta on Wednesday (24/6/2026). The ethical violation originated from a report that SW had received money totalling Rp 1.9 billion and Rp 150 million in 2022. At that time, SW was serving as Chief Judge of Kudus District Court. The money received by SW was supposed to be used as payment for an auction object, specifically a house. Because the auction object was processed without following the applicable auction mechanism, the money was entrusted or consigned to SW as the then Chief Judge of Kudus District Court. However, SW did not deposit the money according to the agreement as the auction payment proceeds to the bank for the settlement of the auction object payment. “SW admitted that the money he received was used to build a private CV, pay off a housing loan, and for office activities,” said Hamdi. In addition to that report, Hamdi stated that throughout 2020, SW was reported for issuing rulings that were not registered in the Kudus District Court register, where the ruling numbers were identical but the parties involved were different. SW was also previously reported for controlling inheritance assets in a non-procedural manner. The reported judge SW also frequently received litigants privately in his office. While serving as Chief Judge of Baturaja District Court, SW was reported to have received a sum of money related to case management. According to the investigation report from the Supreme Court’s Supervisory Body (Bawas), SW admitted to having received Rp 200 million in 2018, but could not recall the remaining amounts. As a result, SW was sanctioned as a non-palu judge for six months in 2023. However, due to health reasons (suffering a stroke), SW was assigned as a Judicial Judge at the South Jakarta District Court. In his defence, Hamdi said, SW intended to return the money he received, but the complainant demanded full repayment. The individual planned to replace the money through a bank loan. “However, his application was rejected because he did not obtain a recommendation from the Chief Judge of the South Jakarta District Court, considering SW’s health condition and pending the MKH ruling,” said Hamdi.
