South Jakarta Court to Deliver Verdict on Roy Suryo's Second Pretrial Motion
The South Jakarta District Court will deliver its verdict on the second pretrial motion filed by Roy Suryo, a suspect in a defamation and slander case related to the authenticity of former President Joko Widodo’s diploma. The ruling is scheduled for Monday afternoon.
Roy Suryo, through his legal team, is requesting the sole presiding judge to grant his pretrial motion in its entirety. His primary demand is a declaration that his naming as a suspect under Article 32 paragraph (1) of the Electronic Information and Transactions Law, based on a suspect determination letter dated 7 November 2025, is unlawful and therefore invalid.
Furthermore, the motion seeks to have the entire investigation process declared illegal, arguing it was conducted in violation of Constitutional Court Decision Number 21/PUU-XII/2014 and Article 184 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Procedure Code. Suryo is also requesting the court order the restoration of his dignity and reputation, and to declare that he cannot be prosecuted under the aforementioned article. The case is registered under number 108/Pid.Pra/2026/PN JKT.SEL.
