Jakarta (ANTARA) - The South Jakarta City Government (Pemkot Jaksel) plans to build sports facilities in RW 04, Manggarai Village, Tebet Sub-District, to prevent negative activities, particularly brawls. “We have undertaken various efforts. The construction of these facilities is expected to be effective in addressing existing problems,” said South Jakarta Mayor Muhammad Anwar when contacted in Jakarta on Tuesday. According to him, the construction of these sports facilities is a follow-up to the directives of DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung during the Manggarai Bershalawat event, and also forms part of the strategy to handle social issues in the area. The land to be used for the sports facilities is located in the RW 04 park, Jalan Manggarai Utara, with an area of approximately 1,137 square metres. The land is recorded in the Asset Inventory Card (KIB) A of the South Jakarta Parks and City Forestry Sub-Department (Tamhut). Anwar revealed that a site inspection had been conducted together with the South Jakarta Tamhut Sub-Department, the South Jakarta Youth and Sports Sub-Department, and other relevant parties. “The sports facilities to be built are in the form of a multifunctional field that has been designed by the Youth and Sports Sub-Department, so it can be used for various community activities,” said Anwar. In its construction, he continued, the South Jakarta City Government is also collaborating with partners from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Foundation, which wants to help build the facilities. “Hopefully, once all requirements are met, the construction can be realised soon. We also hope for support from all stakeholders and the local community,” stated Anwar. Meanwhile, Tebet Sub-District Head Putut Puji Linangkung added that his side has also proposed the renovation of the Bukit Duri Village Multi-Purpose Building so that it can be used for various residents’ activities. “We hope that all these plans can be realised soon so that residents’ activities become more positive and directed,” said Puji.
