South Jakarta City Government Supports Lebak Bulus 'Park and Ride' Area Development

The South Jakarta City Administration is supporting the development of the park and ride facility area in Lebak Bulus. “For this reason, we are paying special attention so that every development in the Lebak Bulus area is fully integrated with the environment,” said South Jakarta Mayor Syafrin Liputo after an inspection at the Lebak Bulus Park and Ride on Tuesday. Syafrin stated that the inspection was conducted together with MRT Jakarta, the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, and the special staff of the Governor of DKI, Nirwono Joga. During the inspection, his party not only looked at the transportation function but also other functions, namely transportation that is integrated with the area to facilitate public mobility. “We understand that the development of the Lebak Bulus area is very strategic because it is the starting station for the Jakarta MRT,” he said. Moreover, this is in line with the programme of DKI Governor Pramono Anung, who aims to increase the number of transit-oriented development areas. “As per the Governor’s programme, the hope is that by preparing an adequate park and ride location, people heading to the city centre will park their vehicles here and then take the MRT or Transjakarta public transport to the city centre,” Syafrin explained. It is hoped that the development of this area will create a comfortable, orderly, and human-centred environment for everyone. It is also expected to reduce traffic volume heading to the city centre and improve environmental quality.
