South Jakarta City Government Enhances Teacher Competency Through Functional Training
The South Jakarta City Government is enhancing teacher competency through the 2026 Functional Teacher Position Training within the local Region I Education Sub-Department. “There will be no educational progress without the role of professional, dedicated teachers who have a passion for continuous learning,” said South Jakarta City Government Assistant, Achmad Basyaruddin, in Jakarta on Thursday. Achmad stated that teachers are the spearhead in improving the quality of human resources and educational advancement. He explained that the functional position of a teacher is not merely an administrative status, but a great mandate containing moral, professional, and social responsibilities. “This training plays an important role in strengthening teachers’ understanding of career development and fulfilling the credit score requirements for functional positions,” he said. According to him, this activity also serves as a means to enhance competency, work ethic, and teacher professionalism in carrying out learning tasks. He added that amidst the continuously evolving educational transformation, teachers are required to be able to adapt to technological developments, curriculum changes, and the increasingly diverse needs of students. “Teachers not only act as instructors, but also as facilitators, motivators, and inspirers so that students can develop optimally, both in terms of knowledge, skills, and character,” he said. Meanwhile, the Head of the Regional Personnel Agency for DKI Jakarta Province, Premi Lasari, stated that this activity aims to improve the professionalism and competency of teachers as educators through continuous functional position training and development. “The goal is to provide an understanding of career development, enhancement of professional, social, and personal competencies, as well as the fulfilment of credit score requirements for the functional teacher position in accordance with applicable regulations,” said Premi. Premi hopes that through this activity, participants can understand the mechanisms of professional development, the preparation of functional position administration, the accumulation of credit scores, and the importance of continuous professional development. Therefore, she expressed appreciation to all teachers who have so far demonstrated dedication and commitment in carrying out their duties as educators. “The role of teachers is crucial in producing a generation that is intelligent, has character, and is capable of facing future challenges,” she said. The activity, which took place in the Dirgantara Room of the South Jakarta Mayor’s Office, was attended by more than 350 participants both offline and online.
