Jakarta (ANTARA) - The South Jakarta City Government (Pemkot Administrasi Jakarta Selatan) together with the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) found formalin and textile dye in takjil markets on Jalan Karya Utama, Gandaria Utara, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta. “Three samples among them contained formalin and textile dye Rhodamine B,” said the Deputy Mayor of South Jakarta Ali Murthadho when speaking at the Jalan Karya Utama takjil market, Jakarta, on Wednesday. Ali said he and BPOM had taken 39 variant samples from takjil surveillance in the area. In addition to testing takjil, they also carried out socialisation and education related to the use of hazardous substances in takjil foods. “This is certainly hazardous substances and I just asked BPOM what steps should be taken by the City Government. Namely, socialising and educating,” he said. As a firm step, he asked BPOM to trace unscrupulous producers selling products containing hazardous substances. “I have asked BPOM to trace the producers and take steps in accordance with the applicable regulations,” he said. The South Jakarta City Government deployed a task force to oversee food safety during the Ramadhan month of 1447 Hijri. The task force is a collaboration of the Sub-Office of Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises (PPKUKM), Sub-Office of Health, Sub-Office of Food Security, Marine, and Agriculture (KPKP), the regional economic section and BPOM members. The formation of the task force aims to ensure all processed foods in South Jakarta are free from hazardous substances, such as formalin, textile dye, and other additives.
