Jakarta (ANTARA) - The South Jakarta Administrative City Government (Jaksel) has banned sacrificial animal traders from using social facilities and public facilities (fasos-fasum) as sales locations ahead of Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah. “Regarding the technical aspects of sales, we do not want public facilities, such as pavements and other amenities, to be used by sacrificial animal sellers. This is because it will have a broad impact on the community and the environment,” said South Jakarta Deputy Mayor Ali Murthadho at the South Jakarta City Hall Office on Thursday. He stated that using fasos-fasum as places to sell sacrificial animals could potentially cause impacts on the environment and community activities. Therefore, ahead of Eid al-Adha which is just a few days away, his side has requested that sub-district heads, district heads, Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), Road Infrastructure Sub-District Office, Food Security, Maritime Affairs, and Agriculture Sub-District Office (KPKP), as well as community elements, jointly conduct supervision of sacrificial animal sales activities. According to Ali, this supervision is necessary to ensure no traders violate the rules, including those related to public order, cleanliness, and waste management, which could impact environmental health. “All of this is interconnected, from public order issues, cleanliness, to the waste generated, which can affect the environment and health,” said Ali. The South Jakarta KPKP Sub-District Office, he said, must be proactive in ensuring that the entire process of selling and slaughtering sacrificial animals runs in accordance with the provisions. “Hopefully, this year’s Eid al-Adha will go well, as in previous years. For that reason, increased supervision and vigilance must continue to be carried out,” stated Ali. Meanwhile, the Head of the South Jakarta KPKP Sub-District Office, Ridho Sosro, assured that they will immediately carry out several supervisory activities ahead of Eid al-Adha. One of them is through supervision at sales locations and sacrificial animal slaughter sites. In addition, officers are also conducting data collection on locations used by traders for selling. “Regarding sacrificial animal traders, we are also currently mapping locations used as sales places. We strictly prohibit sales that are not in accordance with the applicable rules,” concluded Ridho.
