South Jakarta Authorities Clear Illegally Parked Motorcycles from Pavement Outside ITC Kuningan

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The South Jakarta Transportation Agency (Sudinhub), together with joint personnel from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri), and the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), cleared 21 motorcycles found parked illegally on the pavement of Jalan Prof. Dr. Satrio, directly in front of ITC Kuningan, Setiabudi District.

“We gave a 10-minute waiting period for the vehicles we were clearing. Owners who arrived were advised not to repeat the violation,” said South Jakarta Sudinhub Operational Controller, Ebenezer Tobing, on Friday.

Ebenezer explained that before vehicles were towed, officers provided a 10-minute grace period for owners to move their motorcycles. Violators whose vehicles were removed are temporarily subject to an administrative sanction, requiring them to write a statement letter on stamped paper at the South Jakarta Sudinhub office.

He added that if similar violations are repeated, officers will impose stricter sanctions in accordance with applicable regulations. “For now, we are only asking violators to write a statement letter at the South Jakarta Sudinhub office,” he said.

Ebenezer urged the public not to follow the directions of illegal parking attendants who exploit pavements as parking locations. He stressed that pavements are public facilities whose function must be preserved for pedestrians.

“We have given warnings to illegal parking attendants not to profit from public facilities. We also urge the public not to follow their directions to park on public facilities,” he stated.

Meanwhile, one vehicle owner, Bayhaqi, admitted he parked his motorcycle on the pavement after being directed by an illegal parking attendant. “I paid a fee of Rp3,000 because I wanted to quickly pick up an order at ITC Kuningan,” he said.
